COLUMBIA, MD – May 5, 2016 – North American Title Co. (NATC) has hired Meg Moon as its Mid Atlantic region counsel, based in Columbia, Maryland. She will also have responsibility as regional underwriting counsel for North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC), NATC’s affiliated underwriter. Moon has been an attorney for 23 years and has over 10 years’ experience handling commercial and residential settlements and underwriting for two Columbia title companies serving the Mid Atlantic area.
“Meg is the ideal addition to North American Title’s Mid Atlantic division,” said Shelby Malarkey, NATC Mid Atlantic division manager. “Her wealth of knowledge in the commercial real estate arena, the respect and credibility she has earned in the title industry and her passion for our local community will allow us to provide customer service that is surpassed by none.”
Moon most recently worked for nearly five years as a commercial account manager, where she served as manager and underwriter for commercial transactions, including builder and construction loans, and handled all commercial transactions from start to finish. As underwriting counsel, she also handled both commercial and residential transactions, including Small Business Administration loans, in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. She also cleared title defects in real estate transactions and conducted commercial real estate settlements.
“When Meg Moon joins the North American Title family, there will be no denying the strength of our commercial underwriting,” said Valerie Jahn Grandin, NATIC executive vice president, chief underwriting counsel. “Her experience in handling complex transactions will be a plus for our Maryland independent agents and affiliates. Her keen focus on the details of the deal will ensure that even the most complex transaction closes smoothly and with satisfied agents and customers at the table.”
A graduate of the American University with honors, Moon earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law. She is admitted to the Maryland Bar and is a member of the Howard County Bar Association and of the Woman’s Bar Association Howard County Chapter, where she served as president in 2005.
Moon has been active with the local Community Foundation of Howard County, where she served as trustee from 2000 to 2008 and as chairman of the board of trustees from 2006 to 2008. She is also a 2008 graduate of Leadership Howard County, where she serves as its recruitment chair.
Located at the NATC office at 7035 Albert Einstein Drive, Suite 200A, Columbia, MD 21046, Moon may be reached at telephone number (410) 730-8484.
